I'm counting down to vacation - you're actually allowed to do this for more than just Santa Claus - it's in the constitution.I'm on the edge of hysteria. Vacation now? Didn't we just back to the grind post holiday? True, but I have hoarded last year's time to create a three week block of time. Don't give me that " if they do without you for 3 weeks, they can do without you period" crap; where is the repect due for the off season down time? Now that travel tickets are confirmed, the detailed plotting begins. I'll be reconnecting with family, and decided it was time to fess about childhood nicknames, which I have reclaimed here in blogsphere. Since the advent of email, some of my siblings routinely sign off with our sobriquets, and it sends me reeling right back to playing house, performing plays in the basement, lip synching to the Monkees, and much more. Due to the gender imbalance in our household, if there was a need to create more male characters for creative play, I was the androgynous actor - morphing into the role of any number of family pets when the occasion arose. I wish I had the scripts of those crazy plays, or the novel I wrote in Grade 2, but for now I'll trust our shared memories to recapture those endlessly unique compositions.
